The records of International Typographical Union Local 203, known as the Bluff City Typographical Union, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Collection documents the activity of the Local from its first organizing meeting in 1882 to its merger with ITU Local 118 of Des Moines, Iowa in 1985. Local 203 represented printers and typographers in Council Bluffs, primarily at the Council Bluffs Nonpareil newspaper. Records include administrative, financial, and topical materials. Contains nearly a complete run of meeting minutes, membership lists, and dues registers, also scattered materials on contract negotiations and local union elections.

The Bluff City Typographical Union held its first meeting in October 1882 and applied for a charter with the International Typographical Union. By 1910 the Local had almost thirty members and worked to insure that Council Bluffs printers only hired union labor. Membership peaked at forty-five in the late 1960s, but technological change and an aging membership reduced Local 203's membership in the 1970s.
